Okay everyone! Just like before we'll have a topic dedicated entirely to the artform known as the HAIKU!!!
Remember, the basic rules for haiku writing is: one line with five syllables, one line with seven syllables, one line with five syllables.
I call this one -

Is that really a proper haiku? Didn't you say that a haiku is supposed to be 5, 7, 5? |

Seasonal references aside, haiku's are really really hard in english. For example.
Furu ike ya
Kawazu tobikomu
Mizu no oto
Is the classic example. Notice the top and bottom line line up very well. This is because they both have 2 spaces and one i. Due to the method of romanization using the bare minimum letters for each sound a japanese 5-7-5 haiku will line up that way so long as those criteria are met. Because all the syllables are extremely simple.
In english we have much more complex syllables and can't really do it quite the same way. That's why english haikus rarely use the 5-7-5 format.
5-7-5 is just being used here because it is a recognizable format that can be used to have fun. I highly doubt we'll see any 'proper' haiku in this thread. It is just for fun. _________________ I'm the Guilty Gear guy. |

That is 5-7-5.
And as for what you said Hex, they aren't all like that in Japanese, either.
Remember, I said basic rule. This is an internet forum; those such rules are worthless, and the syllable thing isn't even that big of a deal either. Let's just try to have fun here, okay? Maybe you guys could post some of your own stuff, too?

You're right, my goal was to demonstrate that japanese syllables are extremely simple. I got off track.
This one is based on a true story.
Numa numa plays
The otaku raise their arms
